Balance Calendar Study
In Washington State, a balanced calendar consists of 180 school days, but those days are reorganized to reduce the number of days of summer break and redistribute those days into breaks during the regular school year. These breaks are commonly called "intersessions" and they allow for additional breaks for students and staff or for intervention, extension and catch up for students. For more information see: https://www.waesd.org/services/calendar/
TSD has been given a grant to study whether a balanced calendar would be desirable and of benefit to our students, staff, families, community and organization. I am writing to you because you represent an important group of stakeholders in this process and I am inviting you to participate in this study.
Our study group will consist of students, parents, community members, staff, labor partner leadership, and administration.
Toledo School District Equity Committee
TSD's mission is to provide opportunities and meaningful experiences to empower students to achieve their goals. Each child. Each day. Each classroom. In order to be certain that we are meeting that mission for each child, we are inviting members of the staff and community to participate on an Equity Committee. The purpose of this committee is to examine the policies and practices of the district and to look for ways that we can be more inclusive to all children, staff and community members.
